Interest Groups are the heart of any U3A. Each Group covers a
field of activity or study. Some topics are covered by more than
one Group. Whilst a Group has a leader, the organisation and
activity of the Group is largely under the control of the members;
there is no syllabus or programme other than that which is decided by
the members themselves.
Collective
learning is the primary purpose of the U3A movement but an
equally important aspect of Special Interest Groups is the opportunity
they provide for members to make new friends and enjoy themselves.
