                                                                     WALKING GROUP

The group meets twice a month, for a healthy walk in the Oxfordshire countryside. In order to get a variety of views, members are encouraged to select and lead walks. Where possible, they finish with a visit to a local pub for well-deserved refreshments. Walking boots are always recommended.

Number of Members - 21

Meeting Dates: The second and fourth Friday of every month

Contact Person – Mary Chait - smchait@gmail.com

The Group has kept on walking, irrespective of the weather conditions (well, within reason). They had blustery treks by the reservoir and sunny interludes in lovely summer meadows.

In May Members made an outing to Harcourt Arboretum at Newnham Courtney. Mary reports that the weather was good and the bluebells were glorious.

In March members of the Group enjoyed a lovely walk through Blenheim Park, followed by lunch in Woodstock. The sun came out, which was a bonus and brightened their day even more.

In December the Group walked around Farmoor Reservoir and lunched at the Café.

The weather this autumn was so dreadful that the Group were forced to cancel several of their scheduled Friday walks. However, things improved and in October they were able to do some lovely walks in the grounds of Blenheim Palace, and through Christchurch, where they enjoyed taking in the beautiful autumn colours.

Organising walks during the winter months can be precarious. However, our Walking Group had luck on their side at their first outing for 2024. They walked to Wolvercote in perfect winter sunshine and enjoyed lunch at The Plough Inn.

The Walking Group had their last walk for 2023 on 24th November 2023, when twelve members walked along the towpath, finishing with a lovely lunch at the Plough in Wolvercote.
